drugged wine, woke up, and cried out aloud. So, as this place is within the jurisdiction of Hongkong, being afraid that something might happen they gagged his mouth with a handkerchief and bound his neck with a rope. But without having any intention of using too much force, the rebel, on account of his age expired. There was also discovered on a search being made on the person of the rebel a gold medal on one face of which was engraved in English and in Chinese the characters Chun Fuk Chi Fo. The boat then

sailed on to Chik Hom where the body of the rebel was transferred

to the Kwong Bang Gunboat which then returned to Fu Mun. But as

the weather was hot the body of the rebel began gradually to become rotten, so a coffin was bought in which the body was

placed and forwarded on to Canton for an examination to be held.

It is the duty of the writer to forward the body of the rebel

Hung Chun Kwai together with the gold medal, and the persons who

captured him in charge of the Lieutenants Ho Wai Tsung and Law

Shang, so that this case may be disposed of.

The writer also reports that his spies have

informed him that there are arms and ammunition hidden away in a

secure place. The writer when he obtains further information will

report. The writer requests that the names of the spies will not

be spread abroad, and he will take every opportunity in making

strict investigations and will forward up his reports.
